Title Landscape Crew Leader
Job Information

Landscape Department

  • Must be able to maintain a professional appearance
  • Must be able to read and understand landscape prints, directions, maps and descriptions
  • Communicate with Landscape Operations Manager and Designer
  • Responsible for delegating tasks to landscape helpers to keep them working efficiently
  • Responsible for maintaining truck and equipment, completing weekly safety inspections and filling out daily worksheets
  • Must be able to operate landscape machinery/equipment necessary to complete job (i.e. Dingo, ASV, etc.)
  • Must be able to snow plow during winter season
  • Communicate with customer to answer questions and give accurate descriptions of work to be completed
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial/residential landscape industry.
  • Must have valid Michigan issued Chauffeurs License and be able to obtain a Commercial Drivers License.

Job Information

Landscape Department

  • Meet with Customers and/or Sales Person to discuss project requirements, identify budgets, prepare scopes of work specific projects, and discuss line of communication (i.e. email, phone, postal).
  • Prepare designs in accordance with specifications obtained above.
  • Meet and present proposals to customers.
  • Ensure that all requests for estimates and quotes are entered and tracked in ELF and followed-up through completion.
  • Ensure that all estimates are prepared in accordance with company standards using the estimating system
  • Responsible for managing the flow, reporting and control of all individual estimates and or quotes in process.
  • Monitor actual costs on awarded contracts against estimates to identify areas in which estimates may have been inaccurate or to identify methods of performance that differ from the assumptions upon which the bids may have been based.
  • Maintain a high level of communication between departments to ensure that all requirements are met throughout the entirety of the project.
  • At job completion meet with customer to verify project is correct and customer is satisfied. Maintain customer relationship to inquire on future quotes and potential projects.
  • Participate in scheduling meetings, and landscape foreman meetings to address job specifications, and requirements to ensure a smooth hand-off and successful job completion.

Job Qualifications

Education –   A. S. Degree, or equivalent experience, with significant landscaping or other cost or performance estimating, field management, labor planning and landscape design training.

Experience – Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the commercial landscaping industry with scheduling, bid negotiations and customer service. Project management, organizational and procurement experience preferred

Job Description
Coordinates and maintains Human Resource activities such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits and training by performing the following duties:

  • Oversees all benefit related activities, compiles necessary reports, censuses and other documents as required.
  • Maintain DOT drug testing program in cooperation with outside company.
  • Prepare and maintain employee personnel files. Ensure all files are stored and maintained in accordance with company, local, state and federal laws.
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions.
  • Maintain records necessary for payroll, process payroll bi-weekly
  • Develop and coordinate employee training programs and safety meetings in conjunction with Operations Manager.
  • Work in conjunction with management to determine hiring needs. Create and maintain job postings.
  • Screen applicants for open positions, prepare offers of employment, and conduct onboarding.
  • Maintain HRIS
  • Handle employee inquiries.
  • Maintain employee handbook and safety manual.
  • Assist in annual wages reviews, prepare necessary documents.
  • Plan and coordinate employee events and meetings. (IE Company Picnic)
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Compile and maintain files necessary in accordance with the ACA.
  • Handle workers compensation claims in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Assist employees in filing for unemployment benefits.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all Human Resource documents.

Qualifications/Education Required:

  • High School/GED minimum education requirement.
  • 1-2 years experience required.
